Overview

A hillside home in Islamabad that steps with the slope, using load-bearing brick, deep reveals and planted terraces to root the building in its site.

Design challenges

Building on a sloping plot while preserving mature trees and views meant the house had to be broken into shifting levels, each with its own outlook.

Final outcome

A tactile, earthy home that feels like it grew out of the hillside, with terraces that blur the line between house and garden.
